End of day prayer

At the end of the day let us knee and say, Thank you Lord for our work and play, I'll try to be good  I know that I should, thats my prayer at the end of the day.

School Hymn - Saint Joseph, God has chosen you

1.Saint Joseph, God has chosen you, to keep his Church from harm.  So hold the church as once you held the Christ child on your arm.

2.Saint Joseph, God has given you all workers for your own.  Teach them to do the best they can with steel and wood and stone.

3.Saint Joseph, when you pray for me, pray to the Three-in-one, but talk in human words with him who let you call him son.

  • School Masses take place at the beginning and end of every academic year and on Feast days if they occur during the week.
  • On Holy Days of Obligation we celebrate Mass at St Thomas a Becket Church.
  • You will find more information about St Thomas's on
  • We have recently started having a Corpus Christi Procession in June around the playground.

  • RE Homework is given based on the topic they are covering.

We have been learning about Pentecost and that the Holy Spirit is within us when our soul is in a state of grace. We have learnt a prayer to the Holy Spirit.

O Come Holy Spirit

Fill the hearts of your faithful

And enkindle in them the fire of your love

Send forth your Spirit

And they shall be created.

Each class has a prayer book which goes home every night with a different child. This encourages the link between home and school. In our school community we think it is important to pray together. The children read out their prayers every Monday morning in assembly.

  • We are a Faith school and our teaching in RE lessons follows the teaching of the Catholic Church.
  • As Catholics we respect other faiths but we don't 'confuse' them with our own.
  • For this reason other faiths are not taught until Key stage 2.
  • In KS1 the foundations are put in place. Knowledge of the Gospel, practice and tradition of the Catholic Faith.
  • With this in place they can respect the truth and goodness in other faiths. As a reminder the breakdown according to the Way the Truth and the Life is as follows:

YEAR 3 - Judaism (Yom Kippur, Sabbath)

YEAR 4 - Jewish scriptures, the temple and synagogues, other Christians; Anglicans, Methodists, Baptists, Evangelicals.

YEAR 5 - Ten Commandments (from Jewish times) Islam

YEAR 6 - Gandhi, Prophets Muhammad, Passover

There are many more religions but we need to limit what we teach as first and foremost we are here to teach the Catholic faith well.
